Copywriting... writing from this place that engages your audiences and talking to people that you want to come into your office... writing for those patients that you connect with on a different level... These are all hugely important when it comes to working with clients that you want to work with. This is why I've brought Michael Stanclift onto the show today. Michael has created a clinic that is thriving clinic, just by using his copywriting skills (and he's been featured in the Huffington Post multiple times). This is something that I think everybody should listen to because this call has left me feeling like I am more than capable of writing blog posts and things of that sort to connect with the clients that I want to.

Today I'm talking to Mariah McCullough. When I met her, we were sitting in a workshop and she was talking about how she created a list of 0-6000 just by doing an online challenge. No bells and whistles, no frills, no gimmicks, no major tech stuff. She just put it out there and it manifested into something wonderful. She was doing this while being a mom and while working a full-time corporate job. She is now using that list to build some residual income. I know that a lot of us who are listening to this show are also trying to tap into the "build your tribe" space and while listening to Mariah I thought that she had a really unique way of doing it. She also did it from a very authentic, a very real, and a very non-agenda-y (how am I going to make money? How am I going to make sales?) kind of place, which I feel a lot of us can get caught up in. "What if I don't make any money on this? Is it worth it? What if I don't get anybody to sign up? Is it worth my time?" And sometimes when we just do things organically and just because we love it, the abundance comes to us anyway.

- How should someone try to let go of expectations they place on themselves?

Mastering The Basics of FB Ads: Interview with Ben Blackmon - PPP: 046
Monday Mar 27, 2017
Monday Mar 27, 2017
Ben Blackmon is a Kentucky-based Facebook Ad Manager, husband, and father of 2 who is dedicated to helping people review their current marketing efforts, and guiding them to success they can follow to allow them to spend more time working on what they'd rather be doing.
This episode is one that is long overdue. This was something I knew I need to create a show about Facebook Ads. More people are starting to do Facebook Live videos as well as purchase ads, but one thing that is holding so many of us up is the simple question: how do we use Facebook Ads to our advantage? I'm now at the point where I know how to set everything up, what the expectations are in relation to letting the Facebook algorithms do their things. In this episode, I'll be sharing that information with you.
Today I'm talking to Ben Blackmon. He is a facebook ad manager and actually for my last 5 Day Lead Magnet Challenge, I used him as someone to help me run my Facebook Ads. When I launched the Maximized Your Clinic Course for the first time I outsourced the work to someone from Upwork. He ran the ads for the month of July and it cost about $700. Overall, my cost per lead was much high because I was adding in his hourly wages into the price of the Facebook Ads themselves. I wanted to learn how to utilize Facebook Ads myself, but I was having a lot of trouble understanding them, which is what led me to get in touch with Ben.
If you are really curious about Facebook Ads and you want to learn more about how to set it up, the right way to do it, what the exact ad spend should be, when you should start, and how long it takes to get traction.
The sponsor of this episode is my 7 Day Detox Program. I created this with you guys in mind, to give you a completely free program that allows you to set up an in-office and online program that you can set up and start selling to your patients.
Questions I Asked Ben:
- When did the transition to using Facebook ads to gain customers, make sales, etc. really start?
- What is it about Facebook ads that draw people to use it opposed to Google ads per say?
- Is it possible for Facebook ads to be used for local business owners to attract local customers to my practice?
- If I'm trying to target my audience, how do I use Facebook to reach those people?
- How do I know who to target and what to look for?
What You'll Learn From This Episode:
- What Ben's most successful funnel, that actually converts is.
- How to make sure potential customers see your ad.
- Ben's suggestion to targeting the biggest audience using Facebook ads.
- The tools Ben prefers to analyze and assess Facebook ads.

I'm very excited to be talking to Dr. Trevor Cates today because I have been doing a lot of reflection the past few months about the realistic ideas are for a lot of people in this industry. So many of us are so impatient when it comes to building our business, paying off our debt, and getting patients into our office. If it doesn't happen fast enough we tend to blame outward issues such as associations aren't promoting us enough, people aren't referring me enough, or my clinic owner isn't putting out my information enough, etc. Rarely do I hear people bringing that inward to ask themselves, what am I doing to benefit from my practice?
After having my last talk with Lori Kennedy, that was something that really hit home for me. You may think the ideal for your business may be to hit 6 figures, or half a million dollars a year might feel successful for you, or maybe having a better net gross is more important to you, or only working 2 days a week, etc. Today we're going to be talking about creating realistic expectations and potentially reducing what your desire is or ultimate goal for your business is, based on what you're willing and not willing to give up in your life. Today, we'll be discussing these things with Dr. Trevor Cates.
Dr. Trevor Cates is a nationally recognized naturopathic doctor. She is also known, as “The Spa Dr.,” and was the first woman licensed as a naturopathic doctor in the state of California, appointed by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to California’s Bureau of Naturopathic Medicine Advisory Council. She has worked with world-renown spas and sees patients in her private practice in Park City, Utah with a focus on graceful aging and glowing skin. She has been featured on The Doctors, Extra, First for Women, Mind Body Green and is the host of THE SPA DR. Podcast. Dr. Cates believes the key to healthy skin is inner and outer nourishment with non-toxic ingredients. Her new book Clean Skin from Within will be released in March 2017. Dr. Cates’ The Spa Dr. skin care and supplement lines are formulated with natural and organic ingredients designed to help you achieve the clean and natural path to confidence and beautiful skin.
Questions I Asked Trevor:
- How did you build and sustain your list?
- Why is it so important to develop a"tribe?"
- How do you manage to build your tribe without getting overwhelmed?
- How do you stay motivated to create content?
- What are some of the struggles you've faced in growing your business?
What You'll Learn From This Episode:
- Why Trevor decided to write her book.
- How she got into naturopathic medicine.
- Where Trevor sees opportunities to open up to her patients.
- What Trevor does to get her message out to people.
- Why you need to focus your goals before you can grow your audience.

Today we're going to discuss how to effectively use Instagram to grow your business. I'm using my Instagram for one purpose: to promote, inspire, and help you guys see what I'm doing and get first dibs at things. I wanted to be very strategic when I use social media so my message doesn't get very muddied. I see a lot of other practitioners do this as well, whether it's Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Depending on how you want to use those resources, if you're trying to do it from a business perspective, you're probably not doing it right if you're not only using social media to talk to your patients, but you're also showing family pictures, what you're eating, and things like that.
If you want social media to drive business, you need to start using it more strategically. I've been dabbling with Instagram since January. I was hesitant to use it until I attended a webinar with Jasmine Star who has the course called Instagram 180. Instagram can be quite difficult to navigate in regards to how to get people to follow you in the way that you want them to. If you are using Instagram and you're trying to attract patients, really look at your profile and ask yourself if someone who does not know you or your business would understand what your message is. This is coming from that idea of being consistent and clear to have people follow you for the right reason. From a business perspective, the only reason we're really using social media is to add to your list or to get people in your office.
I'm talking to Pratima today because she has generated over six figures in her business which is making quotes on paper. She hand does all of the material, screen presses it, and sends it out. Her business is very picture based so I wanted to pick her brain and ask her for her exact system: how she grew her business from 0 to six figures in 6 months. Today's episode will tell you how much effort you should put into Instagram, and how concretely you need to stick to your message.

This episode is important and very relevant to us practitioners.
